Ormat Technologies (ORA) said Monday it started commercial operations for the Ijen geothermal power plant in Indonesia.
The power plant started operations with its first phase providing 35 megawatts of electricity to the Java grid, Ormat said, adding the facility has a planned capacity of 110 megawatts under a 30-year power purchase agreement.
PT Medco Cahaya Geothermal, in which PT Medco Power Indonesia and Ormat own 51% and 49% interests, respectively, will operate the plant.
Shares of Ormat rose 1.4% in recent trading.
