American Express (AXP) said Tuesday the net writeoff rate for US consumer card loans in January rose to 2.3% from 2.1% in December 2024.
The net writeoff rate for US small business card loans increased to 2.5% from 2.4% in December, the company said in a regulatory filing.
The January writeoff rates are based on principal only, excluding interest or fees.
Total US-based consumer and small business card loans declined to $119.5 billion in January from $122.2 billion in December, the company said.
