0926 ET - The monthly Empire State Manufacturing Survey from the New York Fed indicates that factory activity picked up this month in New York State--along with price increases. The activity index moved back into positive territory at 5.7, indicating an expansion, after a negative reading in January. The survey flashes an inflation warning as the prices-paid index rises to 40.2, the highest level in almost two years. The prices-received index increased significantly as well to 19.6. Six-month-ahead activity expectations remained positive but declined from January, indicating that manufacturers' forecasts for a continued expansion turned a bit more muted.
