0821 GMT - China's countermeasures to U.S. tariffs look relatively measured for now, says Lynn Song, chief economist for Greater China at ING, in a note. ING notes only about 25% of U.S. exports to China has been hit with tariffs after taking into account the just-announced measures and China's retaliation to the February tariffs. "The retaliation could have been a lot stronger, and with every further escalation the risks are also rising for a stronger response," ING says. The restraint in retaliation means negotiations remain on the table, but the path ahead is narrow, ING says, adding that new talks are unlikely to happen over the next week with the Two Sessions meetings kicking off.
