TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Singapore-based airline Calypte Holding Pte. Ltd., through its subsidiary PT Indonesia Airlines Group (INA), has officially received approval to operate as of March 7, 2025.
According to Iskandar, CEO of Indonesia Airlines and Executive Chairperson of Calypte Holding Pte. Ltd., INA will be Indonesia’s first commercial airline exclusively serving international routes.
“Based on our business plan and feasibility study, Indonesia Airlines will focus entirely on international flights,” Iskandar stated on the airline’s LinkedIn page on Sunday, March 9, 2025.
In its initial phase, INA will operate 20 aircraft from Soekarno-Hatta Airport, serving 48 destinations across 30 countries. Iskandar emphasized that the airline aims to offer the most comprehensive travel services for its customers.
"This first-of-its-kind commercial airline in Indonesia will follow an end-to-end service concept and operate solely on international routes for its first five years," he said.
The airline’s fleet will consist of 10 narrow-body aircraft (Airbus A321neo or A321LR) and 10 wide-body aircraft (Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 787-9). INA also plans to recruit top aviation professionals to establish itself as the premier international airline.
"INA has assembled an elite team with experience from leading global airlines," Iskandar noted. The Operational Director position will be held by a former Singapore Airlines staff member with over 40 years of experience and who was one of the first pilots to fly the Airbus A380.
Meanwhile, the Commercial Director will be an industry expert with over 21 years of experience at major airlines like Emirates and Asiana Airlines.
Furthermore, Flight Operations will be led by one of Indonesia’s top pilots currently working for an international airline. The Product and Service Director position will go to an aviation expert from Brunei Darussalam, who previously worked at Royal Brunei and Emirates for 25 years.
To enhance its in-flight experience, INA has also recruited a Cabin Crew Manager from British Airways, a member of the European Cabin Crew Corporate Committee (EBAA), and a Deputy Cabin Crew Manager from Emirates. This strategic hiring aligns with INA’s vision to deliver exceptional service.
"We are committed to redefining air travel with premium services, prioritizing safety while sharing Indonesia’s warm hospitality with the world," Iskandar stated.
He believes that the high mobility in the Asia-Pacific region presents a promising opportunity for INA. Confident in INA’s vision, Iskandar emphasized the importance of synergy among all stakeholders
“With a team of top aviation professionals, both in operations and management, INA is poised to lead a new era in premium air travel.”
