The utilities sector was the only ASX sector trading in the green, rising just 0.5%. Utilities stocks are seen as defensive due to year-round demand.

Delorean (ASX:DEL) launched an interactive Investor Hub for its shareholders, stakeholders, and prospective investors.

Consumer discretionary stocks fell 2.4% at midday Wednesday. The ASX tumbled after US President Donald Trump ruled out exemptions for Australia from 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum exports to the US.

All three major US stock indices dropped on recession fears.

Briscoe Group (ASX:BGP, NZE:BGP) reported that its fiscal 2025 earnings per diluted share fell to NZ$0.272 from NZ$0.378 a year earlier. Revenue for the year ended Jan. 26 was NZ$791.5 million, down from NZ$792 million in the same period a year earlier.
