Altair Engineering (ALTR) said Thursday it joined forces with JetZero to develop the world's first commercial blended-wing airplane driving next-generation aerospace innovation.

The company said the blended-wing design would improve fuel efficiency and provide a more extended range.

JetZero is using Altair FlightStream, part of its HyperWorks platform, to conduct advanced simulations, reduce costs, and accelerate innovation and time to market, the company added.
