Itron (ITRI) said Monday it is making available a non-wire product that addresses utility grid visibility and control challenges, in collaboration with Schneider Electric and Microsoft (MSFT).

The company said its Grid Edge Intelligence will be integrated with Schneider Electric's Digital Grid products and Microsoft's data and AI offerings to provide visibility into distribution grid bottlenecks. The Grid Edge Intelligence product can enhance the grid capacity of utilities' existing infrastructure by up to 20% while maintaining grid asset loading within current design limits, Itron said.

The integrated product will initially be available in North America by the end of the year, the company said.
