The American Bureau of Shipping gave Approval in Principle (AiP) to Hanwha Ocean's (KRX:042660) Smart Hull Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) Tier 3 system, Pulse News reported Friday.
The Tier 3 classification, ABS's highest, reflects the system's ability to analyze structural integrity even in unsensored areas using data analytics, the report said.
The South Korean shipbuilder plans to apply the technology to offshore plants by next year, following pilot testing, it said.
Shares of Hanwha Ocean rose nearly 1% in recent trade on Monday.
