March 24 - Argo’s head of casualty David Corry has told trading partners that the insurer is “well-positioned for success” under the leadership of new CEO Chris Donahue, saying that the company has “made significant progress” in reshaping its business for the future.
Corry made those comments in a memo sent to distribution partners this morning, New York time where he said the incoming CEO Donahue has played “an integral role in transforming Argo so that it is positioned for future success”.
“As CEO, he will continue to lead Argo with the executive team and partner with you as we grow our businesses together,” Corry told trading partners.
“We would like to thank Jessica Buss for her many contributions to Argo and leadership over the recent years. We wish her the very best in the future,” he added.
The Insurer was first to report earlier on Monday that Buss was leaving the company to take up another role elsewhere.
Corry credited Argo’s executive team with making “significant progress in reshaping Argo for the future”.
“We have a clear strategy in place for our products and risk appetite, and we will continue our focus on profitable growth. With all the changes we have made in the last 15 months, Argo is in a strong position to continue and accelerate our trajectory,” Corry added.
He also said that the company is “continuing to strengthen our foundation in 2025 by investing in tools and technology, all focused on better serving you and our policyholders”.
Corry closed his remarks by saying that Argo looks forward to continuing to work with its distribution partners, while expressing his thanks for their partnership.
Buss had been Argo’s CEO for only about a year and a half, taking up the post in November 2023 with the closing of Brookfield Asset Management’s $1.1 billion takeover of the company.
Buss originally joined the company as the president of its US operations in August 2022, after earlier serving as the CEO of Iowa-based mutual insurer GuideOne.
She also worked for State Auto subsidiary Rockhill and Florida insurer of last resort Citizens.
