0955 ET - Donald Trump's proposed 25% tariffs on cars made outside of the U.S. would ultimately push the average price up by $5,000 to $10,000, Wedbush analysts say in a research note. If they hold their current form, the initial tariffs would be a hurricane-like headwind to foreign automakers, as well as most U.S. carmakers, the analysts say. They think this is some form of negotiation tactic on Trump's part and that the tariff proposal could change by the week, though this 25% starting point is "almost an untenable head-scratching number" for U.S. consumers," they say in the note.
