Boeing (BA) will face a jury trial June 23 over allegedly deceiving regulators regarding the safety of its 737 Max jets after a federal judge scuttled his own order giving the plane maker and US Department of Justice more time to work out a deal, news outlets reported.
US District Judge Reed O'Connor's order followed a recent report by The Wall Street Journal alleging that Boeing was looking to back out of a guilty plea it had negotiated with the Biden administration in favor of more lenient treatment by the Trump administration.
The parties previously had an April 11 deadline to work out a new plea deal, Reuters reported.
"[As] stated in the parties' recent filings, Boeing and the [DOJ] continue to be engaged in good faith discussions regarding an appropriate resolution of this matter," Reuters reported, citing the company.
Boeing did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
