The future home of the AFL’s newest team, the Tasmania Devils, is facing a multimillion-dollar cost blowout that would require millions of dollars in funding and could delay or potentially thwart its arrival in the league.
A draft assessment from the Tasmanian Planning Commission, released late on Monday, says construction of the Macquarie Point Stadium in Hobart will cost $992.5 million if it wants to be fit for purpose.
