Santana Minerals (ASX:SMI, NZE:SMI) said infill drilling at the Rise and Shine South orebody at its Bendigo-Ophir gold project in New Zealand intersected new gold mineralization, according to Thursday filings with the Australian and New Zealand bourses.

Four drill holes intersected new mineralization in the southwestern sector of the Rise and Shine deposit beneath the open pit shell defined in the November 2024 prefeasibility study for the project.

"Significant" intercepts included 33 meters at 2.7 grams per tonne (g/t) grade of gold from 98 meters, as well as 19 meters at 1.5 g/t grade of gold from 179 meters.

The southern extent of the deposit was sparsely drilled in the past due to terrain and access difficulties with the steep slope into the valley. Infill drilling is continuing, and it is expected to be completed in the coming weeks.

Santana Minerals' shares jumped 10% in recent trading on the Australian bourse and over 13% in recent trading on the New Zealand bourse on Thursday.
