Remy Cointreau CEO Resignation Doesn't Seem a Major Concern -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
04-10

0849 GMT - The resignation of Remy Cointreau's CEO shouldn't be viewed as a major negative for the stock, Citi analyst Simon Hales writes in a note. The French liquor company said CEO Eric Vallat will leave the group this summer to pursue a new professional project. The timing of the change is unhelpful, the analyst says. The spirits industry is facing lower demand as a fallout of the tariff threats in two major markets, the U.S. and China. However, unlike recent executive departures at other spirits companies, the shift in management doesn't seem a major cause for concern, Hales says. The group has already started the process to find a successor, with an external appointment most likely, Citi says. Shares are up 2.2% at 43.44 euros. (andrea.figueras@wsj.com)
