April 9 - (The Insurer) - Sompo has appointed Jason Burns as senior vice president of ceded reinsurance.

Burns brings more than two decades of reinsurance experience to the role. He most recently served as president of Blue Atlantic Reinsurance Corporation, an in-house reinsurance intermediary of Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Company.

Before that, he spent nearly 15 years as a senior vice president at Chubb. He has also held positions at OdysseyRe and The Hartford.

In his new role at Sompo, Burns will play a role in managing the company’s outbound reinsurance placements.
