Australia’s biggest airline has launched a huge sale just in time for the Easter long weekend with flights starting from as low as $99.

In the lead up to Easter, Qantas has dropped discounted flights over the next 72 hours, in partnership with Tourism and Events Queensland.

On Monday, Qantas Domestic CEO Markus Svensson said the airline's most popular routes will be “snapped up quickly”.

The best sales are economy fares starting from $99 one way from Sydney to the Gold Coast (Coolangatta), with the same rate for Brisbane to Proserpine (Whitsunday Coast).

Other exclusive deals include Melbourne to the Gold Coast from $119, Sunshine Coast (Maroochydore) to Sydney from $125, Brisbane to Newcastle (Williamtown) from $129 and Sydney to Toowoomba from just $129.

The deals will be live for 72 hours before ending midnight Wednesday.

However, the travel periods on selected dates will range between May 19 and December 10.

“Queensland destinations are among the most popular on our network each year, with the state’s stunning coastline and mix of adventure, entertainment and leisure making it a firm favourite for family holidays and long weekend getaways,” Mr Svensson said in a statement.

This sale comes after the Sunshine State recovers from the devastation of ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred, which turned beautiful coastlines into eroded eyesores.

The cyclone caused steep sand scarping and damaged access ways and coastal infrastructure with four million cubic metres of sand (80 per cent) being swept away, specifically at Southport and Main Beach.

Dredging work is in operation to replenish sand along beaches to get them back to their beauty and ready for tourists.

Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate promised Gold Coast beaches will be open for the holidays, despite ongoing rain slowing down recovery.

“Full recovery will take a bit more time,” he told 7 News.

“The only thing that’s stopping us is big equipment can’t be operating, because it will get bogged otherwise.”

Mr Tate added that if 80 per cent of beaches are not opened by Easter, he would buy every tourist a beer.

"Mate, we start brewing it now".

Meanwhile, rival airline Virgin just finished a sale where customers could snatch up flights from Sydney to Sunshine or Gold Coast for $45, or to Hamilton Island for $79.
