Elaine Wynn, a billionaire casino magnate who co-founded Wynn Resorts with her ex-husband, has died, her foundation said. She was 82 years old.

Her foundation didn't release details about the circumstances of her death.

Wynn helped her former husband, Steve Wynn, build their empire, designing and operating glittering casinos in Las Vegas and around the world. She was the largest individual shareholder in Wynn Resorts and a well-known philanthropist in education and the arts.

Elaine Pascal was born and raised in New York City and graduated from George Washington University in 1964 with a bachelor's degree in political science.

She hit it off with Steve Wynn after going on a blind date with him, and together they ran his father's East Coast bingo parlors. The couple first married in 1963 and moved to Las Vegas in 1967 after he bought a small stake in a now-defunct hotel and casino.

She worked in and served on the board of the companies since then. Wynn had her hands in everything from catering to training and human resources. She persuaded Oscar de la Renta and Manolo Blahnik to open what were then their only boutiques in Las Vegas.

The couple divorced in 1986, then reunited and married again in 1991. They divorced for good in 2010. In 2018, she was ousted from her office and the Wynn Resorts board after her divorce.

She and her ex-husband were responsible for some of the most fantastical hotels and attractions on the Las Vegas strip, including the Mirage and its volcano, the Bellagio and its fountains and the Wynn's air-bending design.

She is survived by her two children, Kevyn and Gillian, and her seven grandchildren.
