Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TPE:2330), or TSMC, aims to manufacture 30% of the world's most advanced semiconductors in Arizona as part of efforts to strengthen a US chip making hub, Nikkei Asian Review reported Thursday.
Citing company chairman and chief executive officer, C.C. Wei, the Nikkei said that the chip maker is not in talks for joint ventures or tech-sharing, addressing rumors of a possible tie-up with Intel.
Wei added that TSMC is not discussing any technology licensing or transfers with other firms. The Arizona project aims to boost US chip self-sufficiency, the report said.
