United States Antimony (UAMY) restarted the Madero smelter in Coahuila, Mexico, a year after discontinuing all Latin American operations.

"The first antimony ore acquired from international sources arrived at a Mexican port at the end of March," and the first load was trucked to the smelter and is now being processed after "material was held up by Mexican customs and tax authorities for more than two weeks," the company said Monday in a regulatory filing.

A second supply has arrived and will be transported to the smelter this week, and the third international shipment is due in the next several weeks, the company said.

United States Antimony said its goal is to produce 200 tons of antimony products a month at the Madero Smelter before the end of the year.
