Oklo Investors Spooked by Sam Altman's Departure -- Market Talk

1724 ET - Oklo investors were putting a lot of stake into Sam Altman's involvement in the nuclear-energy startup. Investors sold off shares on Tuesday after Oklo said OpenAI CEO Altman would step down as its board chair. Altman's involvement in helping Oklo fund operations and go public last year was a draw for many investors, even though the company isn't profitable and hasn't finished developing the small modular reactor it plans to use to produce nuclear energy. Oklo said Altman's departure will open the door for collaboration opportunities, but didn't clarify what those partnerships would look like or when they might come about. Shares fell 10%, to $19.43, after the market closed Tuesday. (katherine.hamilton@wsj.com)
