South Korea's Composite Consumer Sentiment Index (CCSI) for April 2025 stood at 93.8, rising 0.4 points from March, according to the latest Consumer Tendency Survey released Wednesday.

Consumer sentiment on living standards and future expectations remained unchanged at 87 and 92, respectively. Sentiment regarding future household income stayed steady at 96, while expectations for future household spending increased by one point to 105.

On the downside, sentiment regarding current domestic economic conditions fell by three points to 52, while the outlook on future economic conditions improved by three points to 73.

The expected inflation rate for the upcoming year was 2.8%, with a three-year and five-year forecast of 2.6%.

ING Research noted that despite reduced political uncertainty, South Korea's composite consumer sentiment index remained below neutral for a fifth consecutive month.

Improved expectations for future spending and economic conditions suggest potential for modest improvement, though the index for current economic conditions fell to December levels, indicating weaker-than-expected growth for the quarter, according to ING Research.
