West Pharmaceutical Services (WST) said Thursday that Chief Financial Officer Bernard Birkett plans to retire later this year and that a search for his successor is underway.

Birkett is expected to remain in the CFO role until a successor is appointed and will then serve as an advisor to support a smooth transition, the company said.

West also said it appointed Shane Campbell as chief proprietary segment officer, starting May 5. Campbell most recently served as chief commercial officer of the construction materials business at Carlisle (CSL).

Shares of West Pharmaceutical Services were down 3.5% in recent trading.
