Market Chatter: Boeing in Talks With Malaysia Airlines to Take Over Aircraft Delivery Slots

Boeing (BA) has been contacted by Malaysia Aviation Group about potentially speeding up the acquisition of aircraft after the Chinese government reportedly told its airlines to stop deliveries from the aerospace company, Bernema reported Sunday, citing the group's managing director Datuk Captain Izham Ismail.

Ismail said that the group, which is the parent of Malaysia Airlines, is in talks with Boeing to take over the slots that will be potentially vacated by Chinese airlines so it can meet its target fleet number faster, according to the report.

Further, any additional aircraft obtained by the group would not be part of its initial order of 25 aircraft, which are under a leasing agreement with Air Lease, Ismail told Bernama.

Boeing and Malaysia Airlines did not immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
