According to Cointelegraph, Ethereum Core Developer Tomasz Kajetan Stańczak revealed that the Fusaka hard fork upgrade is scheduled to be implemented in the third or fourth quarter of 2025, with the specific timing yet to be finalized. Core Developer Tim Beiko stated that due to technical uncertainties that could impact the upgrade timeline, the controversial EVM Object Format (EOF) upgrade has been removed from Fusaka.
The EOF was originally planned to comprehensively reform the smart contract development process through 12 EIP proposals, including introducing the RJUMP instruction to replace the traditional JUMP and adopting optimized solutions such as structured bytecode containers. Supporters believed this would enhance EVM efficiency, while opponents pointed out that it overly complicated the system and required synchronized updates to the development toolchain. A public opinion poll on the Ethereum voting platform ETHPulse showed that 39 addresses holding a total of 17,745 ETH opposed this upgrade.
