0708 GMT - Barclays's better-than-expected profit was almost entirely driven by its investment bank, with figures from fixed income, currencies and commodities materially ahead of consensus, Citi says in a research note after the British lender's first-quarter print. "A strong set of results, with evidence of further market share gains in FICC, and without having to compromise on costs or capital," analysts write. A strong reaction at market open could fade--depending on what is said on the call with management--as the sustainability of its impressive results comes into focus, they note. Shares open 3% higher at around 307 pence. (elena.vardon@wsj.com)
