Persimmon's 'New Build Boost' Incentive Could Change Customer Demand, Pricing Profile -- Market Talk

Dow Jones

0912 GMT - Persimmon's introduction of the New Build Boost incentive could change the demand and pricing profile of its customer base if it works, Jefferies analysts say in a note. The measure allows customers to buy a new home with a 15% interest-free equity loan. Although this measure could constrain near-term capital release, neither meaningful capital returns nor the upside in volumes are reflected in forecasts or evaluations, Jefferies says. On the positive side, the measure will be used selectively so that capital will only get tied up if it drives volumes and operational leverage, and will allow customers to stretch their deposit to potentially purchase a larger home, Jefferies says. Shares are down 0.4% at 1,294.50 pence. (anthony.orunagoriainoff@dowjones.com)
