Alphabet (GOOGL, GOOG) chief executive Sundar Pichai spoke to Apple's (AAPL) Tim Cook on the possibility of including Google's Gemini AI technology on new phones, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing trial testimony by Pichai.
Speaking in Google's defense at an antitrust trial in Washington, Pichai said the CEOs talked about the possibility last year and that he expected to reach a potential deal by the middle of 2025.
The deal would reportedly see Google's Gemini AI included within Apple Intelligence, Apple's own set of AI features, according to Reuters.
Pichai testified in Alphabet GOOGL unit's defense as the US Department of Justice has proposed ending its deals with Apple, Samsung, AT&T and Verizon to be the default search engine on new mobile devices.
Google and Apple did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
