Investors in AMETEK, Inc. (NYSE:AME) had a good week, as its shares rose 2.0% to close at US$170 following the release of its quarterly results. The result was positive overall - although revenues of US$1.7b were in line with what the analysts predicted, AMETEK surprised by delivering a statutory profit of US$1.52 per share, modestly greater than expected. Earnings are an important time for investors, as they can track a company's performance, look at what the analysts are forecasting for next year, and see if there's been a change in sentiment towards the company. With this in mind, we've gathered the latest statutory forecasts to see what the analysts are expecting for next year.

Taking into account the latest results, AMETEK's 16 analysts currently expect revenues in 2025 to be US$7.04b, approximately in line with the last 12 months. Statutory per-share earnings are expected to be US$6.22, roughly flat on the last 12 months. Before this earnings report, the analysts had been forecasting revenues of US$7.11b and earnings per share (EPS) of US$6.26 in 2025. So it's pretty clear that, although the analysts have updated their estimates, there's been no major change in expectations for the business following the latest results.

The analysts reconfirmed their price target of US$191, showing that the business is executing well and in line with expectations. That's not the only conclusion we can draw from this data however, as some investors also like to consider the spread in estimates when evaluating analyst price targets. Currently, the most bullish analyst values AMETEK at US$225 per share, while the most bearish prices it at US$158. This shows there is still a bit of diversity in estimates, but analysts don't appear to be totally split on the stock as though it might be a success or failure situation.
One way to get more context on these forecasts is to look at how they compare to both past performance, and how other companies in the same industry are performing. It's pretty clear that there is an expectation that AMETEK's revenue growth will slow down substantially, with revenues to the end of 2025 expected to display 1.9% growth on an annualised basis. This is compared to a historical growth rate of 9.1% over the past five years. By way of comparison, the other companies in this industry with analyst coverage are forecast to grow their revenue at 8.0% per year. So it's pretty clear that, while revenue growth is expected to slow down, the wider industry is also expected to grow faster than AMETEK.
The most important thing to take away is that there's been no major change in sentiment, with the analysts reconfirming that the business is performing in line with their previous earnings per share estimates. On the plus side, there were no major changes to revenue estimates; although forecasts imply they will perform worse than the wider industry. There was no real change to the consensus price target, suggesting that the intrinsic value of the business has not undergone any major changes with the latest estimates.
Keeping that in mind, we still think that the longer term trajectory of the business is much more important for investors to consider. We have estimates - from multiple AMETEK analysts - going out to 2027, and you can see them free on our platform here.
