Mercedes-Benz Withdraws Guidance as It Evaluates Latest Tariff News -- Market Talk

Dow Jones

1050 GMT - Mercedes-Benz is still evaluating the latest auto tariff announcements but has withdrawn its 2025 outlook due to uncertainty, Berenberg's Romain Gourvil writes. Considering some mitigation measures, Mercedes estimates the potential margin impact of tariffs for 2025 at around 300 basis points for its cars division. Berenberg calculates that 35%-40% of the company's operating profit is at risk from tariffs, before mitigation measures. "While the tariffs situation remains fluid, we reduce our 2025-27 estimates by circa 15%, reflecting tariff impacts but acknowledging that those estimates will likely be further adjusted in the coming weeks as the situation evolves." The bank lowers its price target to 58 euros from 63 euros and keeps its hold rating. Shares rise 0.2% to 52.56 euros. (dominic.chopping@wsj.com)
