The shares of some insurance companies and health-insurance brokers are trading in the red following a complaint from the Justice Department alleging illegal kickbacks and discrimination.
The DOJ said the complaint alleges that Aetna, Elevance Health and Humana paid illegal kickbacks to brokers eHealth, GoHealth and SelectQuote in exchange for enrollments in the insurers' Medicare Advantage plans. In addition, the complaint alleges Aetna and Humana conspired with the brokers to discriminate against Medicare beneficiaries with disabilities.
With about 30 minutes left in Thursday's regular session, shares of GoHealth were trading 12.4% lower, at $9.22. SelectQuote Shares were down 17.6%, at $2.60, while eHealth shares were up 1.8%, trading at $5.66.
CVS Health, which owns Aetna, saw its shares trading higher, up 5.2% at $70.19. Elevance Health shares were down 2.4% at $410.33, and Humana shares had fallen 1.7% to $257.62.
