China's Early Holiday Data May Benefit Consumption Stocks -- Market Talk

Dow Jones

0700 GMT - China's early labor-day holiday data shows resilient consumer activity and spending, thanks to subsidies and more relaxed tax-refund policies, DBS analysts write in a note. There are signs of easing U.S.-China tensions as China has started to assess U.S. trade-talk messages, they say. The market is likely to respond positively to early holiday data and optimism around easing U.S.-China tensions, they say. That said, meaningful high-level trade discussions will likely take time to materialize, they add. Consumption stocks may benefit from steady holiday data, they say. Tongcheng and Trip.com could benefit from continued recovery in tourism in China, they add.(jiahui.huang@wsj.com; @ivy_jiahuihuang)
