James Bay Minerals (ASX:JBY) staked 66 new claims in the Battle Mountain district, adding 1,206 acres adjacent to the Independence gold project in Nevada, raising its total land holding by 184% to 1,861 acres, according to an ASX filing on Thursday.
The additional claims support expanded mining and processing scenarios for future developments.
The firm started drilling at the project with a 4,000-meter reverse circulation drilling program underway, per the filing. It also engaged external metallurgical consultants to help select drill core from existing drill holes.
James Bay Minerals' shares fell nearly 2% in recent trading on Thursday.
