Leeuwin Metals (ASX:LM1) said a review of historical drilling and initial site sampling at the Evanston prospect at its Marda gold project in Western Australia has confirmed the presence of shallow, high-grade gold mineralization, according to a Wednesday Australian bourse filing.

Significant unmined drill intercepts identified in the review include 3.6 meters at 16.4 grams per tonne grade of gold from one meter, as well as 13 meters at 4.38g/t gold from four meters, the filing said.

Its field inspection and rock chip sampling of the pit walls at Evanston returned multiple high-grade gold assays.

It is planning to finalize drill targets at Evanston, integrating historical intercepts, pit wall mapping, and structural interpretation. It is also continuing its review of regional targets, including Golden Orb and King Brown, to advance a pipeline of high-priority prospects across the project.

Its shares fell 6% in recent trading on Wednesday.
