0929 ET - Bloomin' Brands reported a 0.5% decrease in U.S. same-stores sales in 1Q, including a 1.3% drop at Outback Steakhouse. The casual-dining chain says on an investor call that households with incomes of $100,000 and less reduced their spending, including purchases of beer, wine and liquor. "We're just seeing a consumer that's just been very cautious watching their spending," the company says. Bloomin' is slimming down its menu and seeking to improve its operations to attract more customers. (heather.haddon@wsj.com; @heatherhaddon)
