Korea Electric Power (KRX:015760) will complete its first legally mandated long-term power distribution plan by mid-2025, with a formal release scheduled for later this year, Pulse News reported Monday.

The plan, valid till 2028, will support South Korea's shift to a decentralized energy system under the Distributed Energy Act, the report said.

Korea Electric Power, working with local governments, forecasts distributed energy capacity to surge 40% to 36 gigawatts, which is 20% of total capacity, by 2028. With more than 95% of the current distributed energy from solar power, mainly in Honam, regional strategies are expected to manage growing small-scale power producers and stabilize the grid, it said.
