** Shares of electric automaker Tesla TSLA.O rise 6.6% to $303.8, touching their highest level in over two months
** At current levels, TSLA's market capitalization sits at almost $980 bln and share price of $310.4 would push its market cap to $1 trillion, according to Reuters calculations
** U.S. equities are rising in broad-based gains ahead of key weekend meeting on trade issues between China and U.S.
** TSLA stock has been rising steadily since end of April, when CEO Elon Musk said he would refocus his attention on co and cut back his work for U.S. President Donald Trump to day or two per week
** Despite Friday's gains, TSLA sits more than 37% from intraday record highs of $488.5 hit in December
** Stock down almost 25% YTD, compared with 3.5% decline in S&P 500 .SPX
