The Federal Aviation Administration has confirmed a second outage in the Newark airspace in two weeks.
"In a post on X, the FAA wrote: "The outage occurred around 3:55 a.m. on Friday, May 9, and lasted approximately 90 seconds."
Shares of United Airlines, which has a hub at Newark airport, were down more than 2% shortly before noon.
The first blackout occurred on April 28. The administration announced plans for a new air-traffic control system on Thursday.
