Centaurus Metals (ASX:CTM) said a new assessment of its Jaguar nickel sulfide project in Brazil, in collaboration with Skarn Associates, enhanced its carbon footprint credentials, according to a Thursday Australian bourse filing.
The estimated E1 greenhouse gas emissions for the project are forecast to reach 6.54 tonnes of carbon dioxide per tonne of nickel equivalent for the proposed production and external downstream processing of its high-grade nickel concentrate product.
The on-site greenhouse gas emissions levels are estimated to be at only 1.62 tonnes of carbon dioxide per tonne of nickel equivalent.
The life of mine carbon dioxide footprint of the project was assessed to be lower than 90% of global nickel production, once it enters production.
