Dow Futures Edge Higher -- WSJ

Dow Jones
2025/05/16

A week that began with a dramatic rapprochement on trade between the U.S. and China is drawing to a close more quietly.

Stock futures ticked higher early Friday, putting the S&P 500 on course for a five-day winning streak. Results weighed on Applied Materials $(AMAT)$ and Take-Two $(TTWO)$ stock in off-hours trading.

Up ahead, investors will scrutinize housing-starts data, due at 8:30 a.m. ET, and a first readout on consumer sentiment for May from the University of Michigan. Economists expect a modest pickup from April, when concerns about trade, jobs and prices fed into one of the gloomiest readings in the survey's decadeslong history.
