Shell (SHEL) paid out a total of around $28.1 billion related to its extractive activities to governments around the globe in 2024, according to a company report released Thursday.
Shell paid about $5.34 billion in production entitlements, taxes, and other charges to Nigeria in 2024, the most for any country, the company reported.
Oman had the next highest figure with $4.59 billion, followed by Brazil with $3.7 billion, the report said.
In Europe, Norway had the highest figure with $3.38 billion, while in Asia, Malaysia topped the list with $3.12 billion, according to the report.
Extractive activities are "activities involving the exploration, prospection, discovery, development and extraction of minerals, oil and natural gas deposits or other materials," the report said.
