1614 ET - U.S. stocks close mostly higher as economic indicators show no major signs of negative effect from tariffs. April PPI inflation was lower than expected, pointing to a mild PCE due later this month. Industrial production was flat and retail sales slowed as expected. Dick's Sporting Goods falls 15% after it said it will acquire Foot Locker, which rises 86%. Video streamer Netflix rises 2% and its market cap closes above $500 billion for the first time. The DJIA gains 272 points, or 0.7%, to 42323. The S&P 500 rises 0.4% to 5917, the highest since February. Nasdaq falls 0.2%, to 19112. (paulo.trevisani@wsj.com; @ptrevisani)
