TOKYO, JAPAN, May 15, 2025 -- The University of Tokyo (UTokyo) and IBM have announced a significant advancement in their ongoing collaboration with plans to integrate the latest 156-qubit IBM Heron quantum processing unit into the IBM Quantum System One, operated by UTokyo. This deployment, part of the Japan-IBM Quantum Partnership, aims to enhance quantum computing capabilities for the Quantum Innovation Initiative (QII) Consortium members. Additionally, UTokyo plans to connect this quantum system to the Miyabi supercomputer, creating a quantum-centric supercomputing environment. This collaboration is expected to bolster Japan's leadership in quantum science by providing powerful computational resources to tackle complex problems across various scientific and business domains.
