Chinese auto manufacturer, BYD (HKG:1211, SHE:002594) topped Singapore's vehicle sales in the first four months of the year, selling 3002 cars during the period, according to data released by the Land Transport Authority on Wednesday.

This was the first time the company had outpaced Toyota Motor (TYO:7203), which sold 2,050 units, with EV rival Tesla selling 535 units.

In total, 14,863 units were sold during the period, the data showed.
