U.S. Natural Gas Futures Settle Lower After Storage Data -- Market Talk

1455 ET - U.S. natural gas futures settle lower as the EIA confirms another large storage injection with inventories rising by 110 billion cubic feet last week to 2,255 Bcf, or 57 Bcf above the five-year average. "Demand remained tepid across the U.S. during the report week, as mild shoulder-season temperature patterns persisted in key population centers," Andy Huenefeld of Pinebrook Energy Advisors says in a note. "Following a very brief heat wave, mild temperatures are expected to return to much of the country for the next several weeks. This should allow strong storage injections to continue through the end of May," he says. Nymex natural gas settles down 3.7% at $3.362/mmBtu. (anthony.harrup@wsj.com)
