Cisco Systems Names Patterson as CFO, Patel as President

Cisco Systems appointed Mark Patterson to its top finance role, effective July 27.

Patterson will succeed Scott Herren, who told the networking-equipment company earlier this month that he has decided to retire. Herren will remain with Cisco as an executive advisor through May 1, 2026, the company said Wednesday.

Patterson, 55, has held several roles of increasing responsibility since joining Cisco in 2000. He most recently served as chief strategy officer.

At the same time, Cisco appointed Jeetu Patel as its president, effective immediately.

Patel, 53, most recently served as an executive vice president. In his new role as president, he will continue to serve as the company's chief product officer.

Patel joined Cisco in July 2020, having held multiple leadership roles within the company since then. Prior, he held executive positions at Box and the Syncplicity business unit of EMC Corp., which is now part of Dell Technologies.

Cisco's executive changes came as the company raised its sales outlook and posted higher-than-expected profit and sales in its fiscal third quarter, fueled by continued demand for the company's technologies.

Shares rise 3.2%, to $63.30, in after-hours trading.
