United Airlines (UAL) will wait for the Boeing (BA) 737 MAX 10 to be approved for use before accepting deliveries of the aircraft, which could take until 2027 or 2028, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing United Chief Commercial Officer Andrew Nocella.

Boeing is facing significant delays in getting the MAX 7 aircraft approved by the US Federal Aviation Administration, which must take place before approval is granted on the MAX 10 aircraft, according to the report.

Nocella said the company is committing to the MAX 9 while waiting for certification on the MAX 10, Reuters reported.

Boeing did not immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
