Walmart (WMT) came under fire Saturday from President Donald Trump, who accused the retailer of using tariffs as an excuse to increase prices despite strong profits.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said Walmart should not pass tariff-related costs onto consumers, citing the company's better-than-expected earnings last year.

"Between Walmart and China, they should, as is said, 'eat the tariffs,' and not charge valued customers anything," Trump wrote, warning that he would be "watching."

Walmart did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comments.

Shares of the company were down more than 1.8% in recent Monday premarket activity.
