Trump Tells Walmart to 'Eat the Tariffs' Instead of Raising Prices -- Barrons.com

U.S. President Donald Trump criticized retail giant Walmart harshly on his Truth Social platform on Saturday, arguing the retail giant should "STOP trying to blame Tariffs as the reason for raising prices throughout the chain."

Earlier this week, Walmart told investors that it would need to begin raising prices later this month due to the high cost of the president's tariffs on foreign nations, including tariffs.

"Walmart made BILLIONS OF DOLLARS last year, far more than expected. Between Walmart and China they should, as is said, "EAT THE TARIFFS," and not charge valued customers ANYTHING. I'll be watching, and so will your customers," the president posted on Truth Social.

Walmart's chief executive officer said on Thursday that narrow retail margins would prevent the world's largest retailer from absorbing all of the tariff costs, but that the company would limit the impact on the price of food sold at its stores.
