American Water Works Company, Inc., the largest regulated water and wastewater utility company in the U.S., has announced an agreement to purchase multiple water and wastewater systems from Nexus Regulated Utilities, LLC, a subsidiary of Nexus Water Group, Inc. The acquisition, valued at approximately $315 million, will expand American Water's footprint in eight states: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Virginia. This move is expected to add nearly 47,000 customer connections. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and other customary conditions, with an estimated closing by or before August 2026. Both companies are committed to ensuring a seamless transition for customers and employees.
